misleading.
The quote you cited was an opinion, it was not in the constitution.
The constitution was quoted and it says, “No person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince or foreign state.”
Clearly, the president would not be accepting any present or any office or title.
Emolument: the returns arising from office or employment usually in the form of compensation or perquisites. Example, The emolument for the director of the charity is officially only one dollar.

And while i am happy that lawrence tribe has found his voice on the president and the constitution, and a lawyer for the trump hating bushes agrees, i am not moved to agree with them.
Opinions on this vary and it has been my understanding that the clause is to prevent the president from benefiting from his position as president by accepting gifts or profits from any foreign state.
Tribe's loose reading suggests that if a president owned a hot dog stand, and the king of bahrain bought a weiner, the president could be impeached.
Nonsense.
You could argue in my opinion, that there is a conflict of interest, and i would agree. But the suggestion that he is accepting gifts or profit from foreign governments because he is president is silly.
Lawrence tribe is a lefty clown. And a bush lawyer is not to be cited either, imo.
Opinions vary. The left like ABC news and lawrence tribe have one position and are beginning the chorus calling for impeachment. Cooler heads know this is not a violation of the emoluments clause.
