our bedroom upstairs to the laundry room on the 1st floor but discovered an electric line in the way.

He didn't feel like trying to play around with the circuit breakers to see how to cut electricity on that circuit so he could safely move that wire, so he took his hammer and shorted it out, throwing the correct circuit breaker.

He didn't even have to get off the ladder, or wait for one of us to go flipping the switch.

I asked him if he learned that in carpenter school, but he said no. I guess he just learned to improvise on the job.
