say "lalalalalalalala" when someone tells a story about what it used to be like.
Had a neighbor growing up in Norco STL. His mother-in-law was Italian from The Hill and didn't speak a word of English. He was very opinionated about blacks. Today you would say he was a racist. Probably was, but you understood the neighborhood color lines and that the Italians were proud of their houses and manicured lawns.
