I think this is overblown. Yes, it happens, but it's not

a one-sided thing, and I think people who do this are in the minority.
Personally, my mother voted for Trump, and everyone on my mom's side of the family voted for Trump, and leans right generally. I love all of those people despite their misconceptions, and I would never disassociate myself from them. If I disassociated myself from righties completely, I would never post on this board since it is primarily populated by ultra-righties.
Not everyone that voted for Trump is a racist, and most lefties don't believe that righties are racists. That's a typical canard put forth by righties. That doesn't mean I'm not going to call out racist dogwhistles when I see them. If I use them about you, you earned the title.
I've never disassociated myself from folks who simply voted the other way, and I don't think most people on either side do that. This article is told from an emotionally charged rightie point of view, but it's from The National Review, so that's to be expected.
I can name a lot of reasonable right-wingers. Margaret Hoover, David Frum, Andrew Sullivan, SE Cupp, to name a few. I disagreee with them on many things, but I think those are people I can have a conversation with.
