The border is secure.
The military is being rebuilt.
The deficit if not the debt, is under control.
Crime is down.
People feel good. About the country, their opportunities and themselves.
What is the socialist strategy for the 2020 election? They lost more senate and house seats in 2018.
Clearly, they cannot be honest and say they were wrong and capitalism really works. They will not want to find a way to do even better with capitalism, despite the fact that they will say exactly that.
How will they disguise their socialist agenda and make it look like they care about the country and the people, while pretending that everything is awful?
My guess is that the progress and economic upturn have not been equally distributed. You guessed it, blacks and women are not sharing equally. Socialists will tell us that blacks improving by 8% while the nation experiences a 12% improvement (in something...) is racist. Disparate impact.
Much better for EVERYONE to be mired in zero growth or a worsening economy.
Fairness in misery preferred to the imbalance of progress.
