I just hope we go after a realistic candidate.

The last two coaching changes (Haith and Anderson) ALden went after a guy who anyone not connected to the situation could have noticed it was not very likely the guy would come to Mizzou.

Painter was an alum at Purdue, he was an assistant coach there and had just recently won his 1st big 10 championship at that school. At best you could say Mizzou is a comparable job to Purdue. Purdue is probably a better coaching job to most people.

Marshall had several reasons for why he was not leaving at that time. His son was about to be a senior in high school and he did not want to make him move for his senior year. Marshall is the big man on campus and always will be at Witchita. He will always be second fiddle to football at Mizzou. Plus he has the Koch brothers in Witchita as his cash cow. There are not any involved alums at Mizzou with pockets that deep. If you put all of these things together, Alden should have known Marshall wasnt leaving Witchita State.

While both of these situations were going on, Alden passed on half a dozen good mid major coaches both times. This time we should skip the process of going after the shiny object and just hire one of the guys who more than likely will be a great coach at Mizzou.
