There are, as I understand it, already eight states allowing insurance across state lines. It is not the panacea you claim and not all that workable. What kind of service network does the insurance carrier in Alabama have in Utah?

Mandatory is not even the issue. Is paying taxes to cover food safety laws or air traffic control or the rangers or pollution controls mandatory ?

HC reform will only work when there is no option to pay for it. I don't want to pay for the tanks or for our military outposts all over the world. I don't have an option on that.

As long as you can opt out - as long as the young and healthy can get out of paying for the older and more lame, then the system will fail. This is NOT rocket science.
