The sad thing is that the solution was simple and required no effort to implement. Reserve the term marriage for men and women and call same sexed marriages civil unions. Give both equal standing under the law and only the fringe idiot radicals on both sides really care.
If you don't call it marriage 90% of the religious people don't give a damned. Give it equal legal standing with marriage and 90% of the homosexual couples don't give a damned either. The 10% of both groups that are going to ***** and moan are pretty much professional *****ers and moaners and no one really cares what they have to say anyway.
