JQA: It has come to our attention that our 'experiment in social engineering' has been a smashing success.

JQA: If we are the wealthiest nation, with governance anchored in freedom...well, have the populace no compassion for their fellowes?

TJ: What he's saying is, if these United States have freedom amongst themselves, if they are The Free-Est States In All The World, then why would you not mercifully spread these good tidings?

JQA: Well, not to put too fine a point on it my good man: Conquest. Divine Providence. Manifest Destiny. You know, that sort of thing.
In our times Msrs, those are seen as...impolite.

JQA: Sir, I will tell you what is impolite. Letting humanity, any part of humanity, STARVE while you loll in riches. What pomp is this?
TJ: And above that Freedom? My good man, have you not felt the cold sting of chains that bind? Chains On All The World and you DO NOTHING?

JQA: Do you not understand the Point of Diplomacy?

TJ: To DISTRACT during conquest, oh what cooing babes have descended from these loins???
JQA: You see, apparently we won the battles, and now you, well, you are losing the war. Don't you see?

TJ: It is Freedom! or Slavery! son. Freedom or Slavery for All The World.
JQA: And with your considerable powers you still leave all of them, your brothers, your brothers in humanity, in chains. The chains of ancient governments, old tyrannies, the phogs of history?
TJ: It's not that we don't understand the difficulties man, but really, Damn the Difficulties.
JQA: Now, we have more details to all this, but think man, THINK. Freedom is a valuable commodity - and one that does not comport well with the phogs of history.
TJ: There will be action. Trust us. There will be action. This impish, self-absorbed, decadent...well, clearly it was not reserved for the motherland, as we now see.
