Rights are natural rights. If you want to believe they come from god, ok.
Begin with the fact that you and only you own your life, body, and mind. It is the fountainhead of rights, and where other property rights logically derive.
No one has the right to initiate force against one who has not used force himself.
These two tenets can inform you as to what is and isn't a crime, and to easily find the position on any issue as a morality-based one
