The Governor appoints Curators, and if they don't do their jobs, he can also pull them off the board.
You think after that $hit-show last October, if Nixon had decided not to be such a patsy, and had stepped in and decided to remove the entire board, that wouldn't have sent a signal?
The only think worse than allowing Wolfe to resign, was replacing him with Middleton - a guy who didn't do his job to begin with and allowed those protests to blow up.
Middleton has been the worst possible person for that job, as well as Pam Henrickson as Board Chair. It's been brutal, and they have allowed anyone with a complaint, to further tarnish the reputation of Mizzou - and our entire state.
Don't tell me the GOP blistering in Missouri in Nov wasn't in part due to a lot of voters being fed up with the embarrassment that a Democratic Governor has allowed to take place.
