The athletic department was in the control of a guy who did not buy into Mizzou. I don't remember hearing he was a bad hire at the time.
Pinkel lost his way several years back, and the team eroded under the surface.
Haith, he did what he does, and we paid for that. That was Alden's pick under pressure.
Then there were the external social issues which had nothing to do with sport. There was no blueprint for how to handle that, and it was poorly managed.
So at every level we had poor leadership. This was the perfect storm to set us back. It has nothing to do with failing to demand excellence. It has nothing to do with making excuses. It has nothing to do with fans blindly supporting the programs. All you have to do is look at the daily posts and see that not everyone walks in lock step support of the people in place. Your broad brush approach paints a false picture.
