normal for a large department with maybe a moderate amount of OT. i'll just give KCMO for an example and they are one of the highest starting salary agencies in the metro area but one of the lowest top end salaries. they top out for an officer at $74,000. that doesn't include shift differential, holiday pay, college incentive pay, uniform allowance and most importantly department overtime and/or off-duty employment or getting promoted.
in KC making 75k to 100k is decent money. sure it's dangerous, the hours suck, dealing with the weather and the dregs of society but it's also the most fun you can have at a job imo.
