My point was that the popular vote you cite is IRRELEVANT because the campaigns knew winning the popular vote was not their goal... winning the Electoral College was the goal.

"....had the election been decided by a popular vote and not the Electoral College, the campaign of both candidates would have been conducted entirely different. In addition, the turnout demographics would likely have been different..."
