Even effort things are bad from him, like his defense

He plays an odd game in my opinion. Too often he plays the game in almost a passive or lazy manner. He needs to play with a much greater sense of urgency and with energy from start to finish. He seems to play straight up and kind of coast on both ends of the floor and that has led to some lazy TOs or not getting the offense into anything on the one end and being slow on close outs on the other end. He needs to look to put pressure on the opponent on both ends of the court. I don't really know how to describe how he plays, but I noticed it in high school as well. I have never seen a point guard just walk around as much as he does.
