Most games you can't hear very much but this one was a very sparse crowed. 1 thing the coaches and players were very involved for the majority of the game. We got down early and the coaches (mainly Steve Shields and Dildy very vocal as was Fulford) kept track of how many Defensive possessions in a row we held them with out scoring. they got to 6 in a row at least twice. Players seemed very frustrated even early on though. Puryear and Woods got very animated with each other but in a positive way trying to figure out defensive rotations. Phillips very vocal too.
Anderson was quite for some of the game but did get after Phillips and Vanleer and Fankie a few times and encouraged the bench to get going.
In person I was really impressed with Nikko! He came in the game and impacted the game on both ends right away. He might not be ready to start right now but I would not be supprised to see him start before too long.
Phillips and Puryear really forced shots and did not take smart shots.
I have not been a huge Vanleer guy, thought that his Defense was suspect, but in person that was not the case, very active, played physical and played hard every play. Also on offense he shot the ball well and made good some good decisions and smart passes.
Frankie just shot bad and was not strong with the ball for most of the game. On defense he will be first team all sec defense at some point. Quick hands and long for a guard.
Walton did some things well on both sides of the ball. He can get to the basket on almost anyone.
Obviously it was a bad game but that could be a by product of a young and inexperience team. I am hopeful it was just 1 bad game and that play does not continue.
Pretty cool to see the interaction in a different environment then normal.
