Just as you can't get too high about pushing a potential Final Four team to overtime on Thursday, you can't get too low about losing soundly to a potential NCAA Tournament team.
Mizzou came out flat and lost the game in the first 10 minutes today and never recovered. It was a frustrating day, especially for Phillips and Hughes.
But they won't play that poorly all year. They won't combine for 45 all the time like they did against Xavier, but we have building blocks. Defensively, I think we're lightyears ahead of where we've been. We do lack size, but we rebounded pretty well today and I'm really surprised by how prepared Nikko has looked for this level of basketball.
Coming into the season, I expected we'd lose to Xavier and probably the Clemson/Davidson winner, too. That's what happened.
If we escape with a win on Sunday, we'll be able to look at this trip as somewhat productive. As frustrating as this performance was today, nothing has changed.
