just because we hung with a top 10 team doesn't mean we're a top 10 team?

I think anyone with a brain knew before this game we'd have no chance with Xavier's best effort. Mizzou had to bring it and hope Xavier didn't have their A game to hang. When that happens something called an "upset" can happen. It happens from time to time in college basketball.
