canada does not even come close to respecting gun ownership

fool. the right to possess a firearm is not guaranteed by law.
must have a license from the RCMP. all firearms must be registered with the government. handguns; which are restricted anyway are limited to 10 rounds. rifles to 5 rounds. there are varied exceptions to the capacity but general rule of thumb that's accurate.
my former co-worker who was an emergency services unit officer for the province of Quebec said that you can't just go target shooting with a handgun. you have to belong to a gun club. and you can only take the gun in your car to and from the gun club.
obviously there are not mounties combing the back woods of the Yukon for violations but that would also be true of remote areas of the US.
but in no way, shape or form, does canada respect gun rights more than the USA.
