misunderstood and mishandled by lawmakers.
1984 is made possible when we start legislating emotions.
It's enough to put people in jail for actions rooted in hate: but you do have to have the actual actions.
Hate itself is best handled by education and enlightenment and the myriad ways those can happen.
If only our prison systems were one of those ways - until that day, we'll have to settle for isolating those that have become temporarily unable to leave in peace with their fellow men.
But to cross the line and legislate against speech of any kind, emotions of any kind, thoughts of any kind: that's a dead end...
