Never brandish your firearm.
You can have it in the "low carry position" or at your side and not be pointing it at anyone and probably be OK.
If you point at someone, be prepared to shoot them if you feel justified. Your life or the lives of your family members was in jeopardy. Missouri's castle doctrine extends to your vehicle, so any attempts to gain entry with you or your family in the car makes them fair game.
There was a south city incident where a guy got surrounded by a mob and they started attacking his car. He was on the line with 9-1-1 when he drove down the street to evade them and they then chased after him. The stopped when they saw he had a handgun in plain view and pointed up at the roof.
