I think the biggest issue in the Democratic party right now (besides being offended by everything, which drives me insane) is that they ignored a considerable portion of their base. Blue collar white men (In certain areas) used to vote Democrat due to their support of workers rights, unions, etc. When they got away from that and spent the entire campaign painting the election as a choice between togetherness and racism/bigotry then they completely turned their back on those voters. And that's what really cost them. It started with the collusion with the DNC. The fact that Bernie had so much support should have told them that it wasn't just people on the right that were tired of the status quo and sick of a system that feels rigged against them. The political elite on the left dismissing Trump voters as a fringe group of racists and misogynists obviously was uninformed and cost them the election.
Not sure how the Democrats earn back the trust of lower income workers but it may have a lot to do with how well (or poorly) the Trump administration handles the economy and blue collar jobs/wages/etc.
Of course I accept that he's the president and I hope he's given the chance to succeed that Obama was never given. But it does make me throw up in my mouth a little that the host of The Apprentice is our Commander-in-Chief. Here's hoping that we're better in 4 years than we are now.
