actually very good. They are a step in the right direction. The average American kid sucks at math. Most can do arithmetic but really struggle at problem solving. Most think it is too hard so they refuse to make the effort.
Of course unlike social studies there is pretty much nothing you can do to politicize math.
By the way science which can easily be politicized does not have common core standards.
