The 6-6 Gill-Caesar was arguably Missouri’s best player as a freshman before injuring his back at midseason, then transferring over the summer to SDSU. He sat out last season per NCAA transfer rules but rarely practiced after undergoing surgery in October to remove a cyst in his knee. And his practice time this season has already been curtailed by back pain.

He undoubtedly is one of SDSU’s most talented players. There’s also a lot of rust to knock off, and it might not be until midseason that we see everything he has to offer.

“Teki knows how to play and can score the ball,” Fisher said, “but he’s got to be healthy. He missed too much time last year in practice. If he’s healthy, he’ll have a great opportunity to really help us.”

Gill-Caesar becomes the eighth SDSU player in Mountain West history and fifth in six years named preseason newcomer of the year.
