The electoral college is the only thing keeping the flyover states relevant. If the election were decided by popular vote candidates would completely ignore the center of the country. With good reason, in one week you could work your way down the east coast and connect with 75 million voters. You could spend a month crisscrossing the Midwest and hit maybe 50 million voters.

The coast already dominate the political system elimination of the electoral college would just cement that fact.
