The American schools have really done a number on many here.

Teaching the following two things:
1. That the US was founded upon the principles of the enlightenment, including most notably the natural rights to life, liberty and property. That the US was formed by breaking away from a distant, overreaching government which was trampling on the natural rights.
2. Love the government. Be a good citizen. Pledge your allegiance. Don't question its authority and legitimacy. Patriotic emotionalism. Government is good, companies are bad. Government is good, people are bad. Federal government is good, local government is bad.
That must suck to be stuck in those two mindsets.
