has for the last 50 years in most of those countries. 8% less of GDP is spent on health care on average. That is a ton of wealth that could be recycled back through the economy.
What does an insurance company do for basic health. Nothing I am aware of. They do push paper and deny claims though.
Tort reform in some moderate way would also help to limit liability and would also help decrease costs as Doctor's order necessary tests instead of tests to cover their legal backsides...
Pulling the medical license of about 1% of doctor's through peer review and audits each year would also help the system get healthy.
