I'm guessing that you are coming from a presupposition that there is no God and that all religion is just made up.
I think that is a false premise.
God also reveals Himself to us at times. He has already done so in a profound way when He became man in the Person of Jesus Christ.
Another of your presuppositions above seems to be that not only would God allow all memory of what He revealed to mankind to be obliterated, but that He would also not reveal Himself to mankind afterwards.
