coaches are probably looking for things like style and grammar and comportment etc. whereas voters are hopefully looking for the candidates' stance on issues of importance to them.
For me personally, I thought Hillary looked better from a debate delivery standpoint... poise, knowledge of the details, staying on topic and so on and got in some good counter jabs.
But even though from a debate rating standpoint I think she won, I would be e more likely to vote for Trump after the debate than before the debate because his positions were more in line with my own.
