remember listening to the national tourney games on the radio. If my memory is correct that Western Texas team had some guy name Paul Pressey and was the odds on favorite to win the whole thing. It was an epic game for the ages.
Coach Bess is the all time wins leader at any level of college basketball. He is the best defensive coach I've ever seen. And certainly one of the best all time at any level. He's still coaching today in his 47th year I think.
Unfortunately assistant coach Roger Pattillo passed at the early age of 48 years old. He was drafted by the Phillies. He's the father of John David Pattillo, PB's head coach during the Hansbrough years. His other son, Marcus, was a MLB umpire for a couple of years.
