Miami announced Monday afternoon that it waived rookie forward Stefan Jankovic and signed rookie center Vashil Fernandez. The move keep the Heat’s roster at 20 players with a Oct. 24 deadline to get down to 15 players for the regular season.
After missing the first three preseason games with a foot injury, Jankovic played in just one preseason game as a member of the Heat. He missed both of his shots and did not record a point, rebound or assist in 3 minutes and 40 seconds of action in Friday’s win over the Spurs.
Unless claimed by another NBA team, the Heat could still directly assign Jankovic to the Sioux Falls Skyforce — the Heat’s D-League affiliate — this year. Jankovic was originally signed by Miami in July.
