eye for a number of years, and the silly things you do get written off as just another celebrity doing what they do.

But when it comes to public office, that is when people and the media start really vetting you and looking into your past, and the skeletons come out of the closet.

Due to the nature of politics, if you've been one for some time, people pretty much assume you are a scumbag. If you are new to the scene and people are hoping for something new and fresh, then find out you are as scummy as they already think of most politicans, that isn't going to set well.
