because it's the kind of silly stupid lie that Trump would say to someone to pump up his image and prove how "manly" he is, even though he hadn't actually done anything. Kind of like his saying what a great businessman he is, despite any evidence to support that - just a trail of failed enterprises. The dude doesn't know the truth from a lie. Whatever he thinks makes him look good or be more marketable, that's what he'll claim.
