There are certainly gray areas in between capitalism, socialism, and communism.

The US is really a heterogeneous mix of socialism and capitalism, but leans much more toward capitalism.

When I say, for example, Bernie Sanders is a socialist, what I mean is that his policies lean more toward socialism than capitalism, or at least moreso than the status quo.
