I think the actual term is called gas-lighting or something like that. Its the psychological technique of creating a self-fulfilling prophecy by hyping the outcome that you want to see, when the outcome isn't actually occurring.
No one truly cares about things a horny heterosexual guy said 11 years ago. The hype is 100% manufactured. The only reason THIS attempt is succeeding to tarnish Trump where multiple previous attempts have failed is that the GOP establishment and Foxnews are in on it. With supposed "right" outlets reporting that this is the end of the world, and GOP household names coming out to withdraw their support, the layperson is more likely to believe that the hype is legitimate. But it's not. It's a non-story and the GOP has always been against his candidacy.
This was absolutely a manufactured ploy to sink Trump's campaign by the political/media establishment. Without Ailes at Fox, Hannity is Trump's only ally over there now. This was a hit carried out by the Bush family, Paul Ryan, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and the rest of the GOP establishment. The story itself is a non-story that hasn't caused one Trump supporter or detractor to change their vote.
