(note, in my words, colonialism is nothing more than the taking of land and property owned by others for your gain. "benefits" to the colonized peoples may be gained from the perspective of the empire and historians, but basically, it's theft on the grandest of scales. to justify it now by pointing to the "gains" of the colonized people is ignorance and arrogance at a crossroad).
colonial government is, per definition, founded to promote the interests of the people of the mother country. When those interests incidentally happen to overlap with the interests of the people who are being governed, then the government accdiently promotes those interests. When the interests conflict, a colonial governent will disreguard the interests of of the colonists they are governing.
Colonial consciousness denies the presence of morality in Indian culture and takes the superiority of Western culture both as its presupposition and its conclusion.
