off the role as Dumbledore's double agent with the Death Eaters; if he had told the truth all the time, I'm pretty sure Voldemort would never have trusted him and would have killed him - which would have had catastrophic effects on the futures not only of Harry, Ron, Hermoine and the students of Hogwarts, but likely the muggle world as all.

I figured you should have known that.
