Starting in 2001:
The men's team will not hold an open Mizzou Madness practice at midnight at the Hearnes Center. "I think there were a lot of people that enjoyed it, but it didn't fit with our vision of what we want to accomplish in the preseason," MU coach Quin Snyder said of the midnight practice. "It's fun to have some excitement right at the beginning of the season.
"But at the same time, I think it will be even more entertaining for our fans and more exciting for our players to wait a couple weeks for our Black-and-Gold scrimmage. Hopefully we can get a few more people to come out since they won't have to stay up until 2 a.m."
"At Kansas they put on wigs and they play guitar, but that's not who we are as a program," Snyder said. "We're not the drama club. We're a basketball team, and our focus right now is to get ready for the season."
