album intros? (opening tracks or intros)
here are some of mine.
U2 - Where the streets have no name (The Joshua Tree)
When he opens of with "I want to run...", I just want to scream
Metallica - Blackened (...and justice for all)
A co-worker who was in high school when this was released. Being that this wasn't a radio albumn, the first listen you got was when you got the vibyl or cassette. Coming off of Master of Puppets, there were high expectations. The glam-rock sounding intro was so cock-softening horrifying when he popped it in he couldn't believe it. Then after 30 seconds...all was well in the world.
Zao - Circle 1: Limbo. Intro/Savanna (Liberate Te Ex Inferis)
Please excuse the lame pictures on video, just listen.
The restraint shown in the opening instrumental laid the groundwork for the theme of the album. Savannah was a the type of song not found in music in 1998. The breakdown from 5:40 to the end get me every time.
Converge - Concubine/Fault and Fracture (Jane Doe)
two tracks that go so well together, they even made a single video for both (again, video is lame for concubine, it's much better for the second half.). The brutal aural assault sets the tone for one of the greatest metalcore albums ever made. the last 1:30 are exquisit
