Coming off 40 years of Devaney and Osborne, it was fair for them to be unaccepting of a coach who led them to a 7-7 season, and his offense was archaic.

Callahan was a bad hire. Pelini was a better coach but a disaster of a human being. Also justified in firing him.

Their biggest problem is in failing to hire the right guy. Pelini proved you can still win at Nebraska.

Had they gone after someone like Petrino two years ago instead of Riley, they could have had him.
