has a chance to be a very good coach at this level. Yes critical mistakes were made a few nights ago that could be attributed directly to the inexperience of the head coach. However I have to admit that I am extremely impressed by both the improvement between last year to this year and even from the first game to the most recent one.
While beating Georgia would have been an early signature win for Odom, just the fact that we were in the game, and really should have won it, is an extremely encouraging sign at this point. It seems clear to me that almost all of his personnel decisions over the off season were home runs. The jury is still out on Demontie and Shipp but they both made solid adjustments during the last game which were awesome to see.
We have young talent on both sides of the ball and for the first time in a while I am legitimately excited about the direction of this program.
I have also decided that it is time to put the CS1950 stuff behind us and get back to supporting the team in full. Yes it was misguided, yes it did some stuff that set back our university. But I watched J'Mon Moore, who so many on here love to hate, play his heart out for Mizzou on Saturday. I watched him go through the agony of losing the fumble that cost us the game. That kid loves Mizzou and if you think otherwise you are out of your mind. Very few of us understand what this kid and these kids in general have gone through growing up. I'm sure they thought they were doing a good thing and helping Mizzou by taking part in the protest. I'm sure they feel horrible by all the negative media they created.
I blame the coaches, namely Pinkel, who had checked out, for not educating the players more and making sure they didn't take part in the protest, more than the players for trying to make Mizzou a better place for everyone. At this point though, people who are holding out need to stop being pussies and start supporting the team again, we have an exciting young team led by an exciting young coach and people want to cry about it. The only way to start rebuilding the program in public opinion is to start filling Faurot again.
Personally, Saturday was one of the more fun games I've been to at Faurot in a while, and I pity any fools who decided to skip it for political reasons. Accept that it happened and move forward.
Sorry for the long post but I think we may have an exciting few years ahead of us. For the first time in a while, I can confidently say that it's a great time to be a Tiger!
On a side note, what are the Mizzou sections in Neyland Stadium? Thinking of making the trip to Knoxville this year. Thanks.
