Sidney Blumenthal went around peddling the rumor. He directly told James Asher, Washington Bureau chief for the left wing McClatchy News in a desire to start a public investigation. What interest does the left winger Asher have in lying about that now? Any reasonable person could conclude that ol' Sid was operating at the Hildebeest's instruction and at the same time attempting to keep plausible deniability with her.

You obviously have need to grab at straws like "reportedly shared" in your desperate need to keep your denial afloat.
