He's an awful recruiter. Can't put together a complete roster to save his life. And he's proven to be pretty mediocre at developing talent. But he's a much better game coach than people give him credit for IMO, and he appropriately channeled the right "us against the world" motivation that team needed.

Norfolk State game notwithstanding, I can't imagine any coach doing better with that team.

It's a shame it wasn't a replicable feat.
