Voter ID will prevent thousands and thousands of legitimate votes from being cast to stop a non-existent problem. In-person voter fraud is exceptionally rare. In-person voter fraud has occurred around 30 times in over a billion ballots over the last 15 years. Voter ID laws are a solution to a non-existent problem and only being pressed to suppress the votes of the poor who don't have the money or the ability to take off work to get the required documentation to obtain the IDs.
It's funny that this is framed as protecting the validity of elections when it will actually cause tens of thousands of votes to not be placed all to prevent one or two illegal votes every year.
