Donald Trump is planning to visit Flint, Mich., Wednesday, amid the city's devastating drinking water crisis.
An aide to Trump’s presidential campaign told the Detroit News Tuesday about the GOP nominee's plans to visit the city. The aide did not provide the newspaper any details about the visit.
Trump previously told the newspaper that he would visit Flint “at some point” during the election.
Residents in the city of 100,000 still cannot drink unfiltered tap water due to lead contamination.
An appointee of Gov. Rick Snyder (R) decided in April 2014 to switch the water source for the majority-black city, but the water was never properly treated, and it corroded pipes, causing lead leaching.
“I think it’s a horror show that it was allowed to happen and to be honest with you it should have never, ever been allowed to happen,” Trump told the Detroit News previously about Flint’s water crisis. “That was really the problem.”
