You are just projecting onto Trump what you want to see. In that sense, the Trump campaign is similar to the Obama campaign in 2008. People were so fed up Bush, that Obama was able to win by keeping it vague and "aspirational".

Trump is a elitist billionaire and a snake oil salesman. One of his main planks is cutting his own taxes by hundreds of millions.

Trump has given literally thousands of sales pitches over the years as a real estate developer. He has probably lied to some degree in every single one of them. (Yes I know Hillary lies to). You don't get to be a big time real estate developer in NYC without doing a lot of sleezy deals/backstabbing.
