wholeheartedly. I don't expect every candidate to have intimate knowledge of all the fine details of every issue and a detailed plan memorized. I would much prefer that they would show that they have at least a basic understanding of most of those issues and the humility to say that they don't have all of the details worked out, but could maybe give a rough idea of the general principles that they would apply in dealing with those issues... if indeed it is worthwhile and prudent for the president to be dealing with them.

I have much less respect for those that try to pretend that they know all about something when they really don't and then make up some gobbledygook reply... or worse yet some ill thought out reply that they may later try to defend and implement just to save face.
