I think the author's point was that Joel Stein was a "cultural Jew" who was in reality an atheist... and that perhaps he shared that lack of belief in Judaism with the Jews running Hollywood.
That seems to be a legitimate point to me, at least with respect to the criticisms of those upset about how Hollywood and the cultural elite are having a deleterious effect upon society... and per some that the evil effect is deliberate and planned. Some then blame "the Jews" for this.
I can see her point as I see the same thing with regards to Catholicism. People blame Catholicism for the pervert priests, for instance, when in fact they are going against the teachings of the Church in a most profound way. The same is true of cultural Catholics who rebel against or even hate the Church's teachings and yet quite proudly tell the world that they are "Catholics". We see this with "Catholic" politicians who promote abortion. We also saw it with Hitler who had rejected the Church decades before he began his political career. He considered the Catholic Church one of his major enemies & yet some still point out that he was a Catholic.
IF the Jews in major positions of power are indeed planning evil goals for countries and humanity and committing evil deeds in furtherance of their evil goals, I would bet that they are not doing so because of the teachings inherent in Judaism.
