to know.
If some terrorist set off a bomb in a crowd outside of a baseball game and the news outlets refused to report it, don't you think people who witnessed it or treated victims at hospitals or drove them to the hospitals or family members would tell others about it?
Do you think that as people hear about these types of attacks 3rd or 4th hand might become even more fearful than if the press had honestly reported what happened? Wouldn't they wonder what other types of terrorist attacks are taking place that they are being deliberately kept in the dark about?
Don't you think that people have a right to know what dangers they are facing if they go out to public gatherings?
For the record, I do think that the news outlets should be a little more circumspect in what they report and how they report it. I see far less need to know all the details of the terrorist's early childhood and how family members and friends think he was such a great guy and other things that give them glory and prestige at least in some people's eyes and may motivate other deranged individuals to mimic their evil actions.
