a fifth grade class for a week. I was between assignments and had some time.

Every day they recited the pledge. I asked if they knew what it meant. Blank stares from this largely gifted class. They of course said "indivisible" meant you can't see me.

They did not know the meaning of pledge, allegiance, justice, liberty, or republic either.

We went over it in some detail.
